Overview

Entropia Universe is a Real Cash Economy MMO with deep systems, complex progression, and long-term skill investment. This guide is designed to help new and returning players avoid early mistakes and understand how the game actually works.

Entropia Universe is unlike any other game I have ever played. It contains a massive amount of content and continues to challenge me to grow years into my journey.

Designed by the Swedish software company MindArk, based in Gothenburg, Entropia Universe is a 3D Sci-Fi MMORPG with a Real Cash Economy that has been operating publicly since 2003.

Most players lose efficiency early due to misunderstanding Codex, professions, and loot mechanics. Small decisions compound over time in a system like Entropia.

Core Systems Covered

Professions

In Entropia Universe, there are 92 professions you can unlock and specialize in.

They fall into 3 main categories:

In addition, players can choose to become Mentors and assist new players.

The Planets

There are 7 planets in Entropia Universe that you can travel to and explore.

Calypso is the “first” planet and is owned by MindArk. The remaining planets are owned and operated by Planet Partners.

When traveling between planets, your avatar effectively transitions between different game worlds with unique missions, loot tables, crafting blueprints, and creatures.

Space is also fully explorable and includes combat, transport, and trade systems.

The Items & Loot System

Everything in Entropia Universe has real-world cash value. Inside the game, this is called Project Entropia Dollars (PED).

The fixed exchange rate is: 10 PED = 1 USD

This includes weapons, ammo, tools, armor, vehicles, apartments, furniture, decorations, shops, and more.

Loot from creatures also has PED value and can be:

New items and blueprints can be discovered through hunting and crafting. When discovered, they are recorded in the Hall of Fame.

Loot returns are primarily based on activity cost. Weapon decay, ammo usage, armor decay, and healing all contribute to return calculations. RNG is always involved.

Unique Items

Some items in Entropia Universe are unique and can only ever drop once in the entire game.

They can be awarded through events, looted from creatures, or discovered from Classified Strongboxes.

Example: The Unique Hypnos Ring can currently be discovered from a Classified Strongbox.
